When we played with a more traditional post player, we taught three “C’s” on a post feed. These typically only apply on a catch with 1-2 feet OUTSIDE the paint. We wanted an immediate score when catching the ball with both feet in the paint.
Catch: We taught our players to go after the ball with two hands. If we had to give up our position to get a two-handed catch we would.
Chin: Once we caught the ball, we wanted to secure if and bring it to our chin on the baseline side. This also brought our vision to the middle of the floor.
Check: Now we would check for teammates cutting to the basket or defenders digging or trapping. If we had room, we would make our post feed.
